Kick off for EU Projects EOSC EDEN and FIDELIS
From February 4 to 6, 2025, 30 European and international organizations, including the DKRZ, met in Helsinki for a kick-off meeting for the two EU projects EOSC EDEN and FIDELIS. These are intended to promote and harmonize digital data archiving and curation in Europe and, as well as to network their stakeholders and institutions.
Quantum Computing Meets Climate Modeling: Insights from the DKRZ Workshop
On February 6-7, 2025, DKRZ hosted a workshop titled "Quantum Computing in Computational Climatology." This event was organized in collaboration with industry leaders ParTec AG and ORCA Computing.
2nd EERIE General Assembly
From January 14th to 16th, 2025, the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich hosted 60 participants at the second in-person EERIE project grand assembly. The DKRZ was represented as a project partner and actively supported the event.
New EU project TerraDT: A digital twin of the Earth
On January 1, 2025, the EU-funded project TerraDT started, which aims to develop a high-resolution digital twin (DT) for components of the Earth system that are missing in the previous DT models: the cryosphere (frozen regions), the vegetation of the land surface and atmospheric aerosols are now also to be incorporated. The project is coordinated by the Finnish IT Center for Science (CSC) and brings together 18 leading European institutions and organizations, among them DKRZ.
