Making diversity visible and joining forces in the Ocean Biogeochemistry community of natESM
On September 24, 2025, around 30 scientists from various institutions met at the German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ) in Hamburg for the natESM Focus Workshop on Ocean Biogeochemistry (OBGC). The aim of the meeting was to bring together, for the first time, the wide range of OBGC models, modules, and methodological approaches in Germany — and to explore ways toward a more coordinated and collaborative development effort.

Heat, drought, and heavy rainfall in focus at the ExtremeWeatherCongress
From September 24 to 26, 2025, around 700 experts from meteorology, science, urban planning, politics, and media gathered at HafenCityUniversity Hamburg for the 15th ExtremWetterKongress (Extreme Weather Congress, EWK) and the Climate Management Conference (KMT). Organized by meteorologist Frank Böttcher, the congress is considered a key platform for exchanging knowledge about the causes, impacts, and adaptation strategies related to extreme weather events.
HPC Status Conference: DKRZ showcases developments from Chatbots to Exascale
This year's HPC Status Conference of the Gauss Alliance took place in Göttingen from September 24 to 26, 2025. The DKRZ was represented with several presentations and was particularly able to underscore the importance of climate modeling in the HPC community.
