8th ENES workshop: New developments in high performance computing for climate and weather simulations
From May 22 to 24, 2024, about 40 scientists met at the Foundation Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC) in Lecce, Italy for the "8th ENES Workshop for High Performance Computing for Climate and Weather". Further participants joined online.

A delegation of high-level representatives from Fudan University Shanghai, led by former Vice President Prof. Renhe Zhang, visited the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) and the DKRZ on May 21 and 22, 2024.
NHR workshop on parallel I/O at DKRZ
A highly specialised workshop on parallel I/O (input/output) for climate science was successfully held at DKRZ in Hamburg on May 7 and 8, 2024, engaging 16 participants in lively discussions and collaborative sessions.
ISC24: Levante on rank 92 of TOP500 list
Under the headline "Reinventing HPC", the ISC’24 took place in Hamburg from May 12th to 16th, 2024. As the largest international HPC conference, with a diverse program of talks and exhibitions, it offered a platform to find out about innovations and applications and to network. The DKRZ contributed to the ISC program with poster presentations, sofa talks, the Student Cluster Competition and personal network meetings. On the first day of the conference, the new TOP500 list of the most powerful HPC systems was released, on which the DKRZ supercomputer Levante was ranked on 92. This makes it the fifth strongest German system.
