SSP370, Temporal evolution of the percentage change in precipitation for the four seasons

Video: For the moderately pessimistic scenario SSP370, the animation depicts the temporal evolution of the percentage change in precipitation in the four seasons as simulated by AWI-CM. Looking at the animation one notices regional changes exceeding certain threshold values: On the bottom left, for example, from about 2040 on we see all northern Mediterranean states experiencing a decrease in summer precipitation of more than 10 percent (yellow and orange shades) for this particular simulation.

The following four visualizations show patterns of projected percentage change in precipitation for the end of the century relative to the mean “present-day” situation simulated for the different scenarios simulated with AWI-CM. The patterns look similar, but differ visibly in strength. More precisely: For each of the SSP scenarios, the percentage change in mean monthly precipitation for the period 2071-2100 relative to the mean monthly precipitation in 1995-2014 is depicted.

SSP126, Seasonal cycle of changes in precipitation

Video: Mean annual cycle of the percentage change in precipitation for 2071-2100 relative to the period 1995-2014 for the optimistic scenario SSP126 as simulated with AWI-CM.

SSP245, Seasonal cycle of changes in precipitation

Video: Mean annual cycle of the percentage change in precipitation for 2071-2100 relative to the period 1995-2014 for scenario SSP245 as simulated with AWI-CM.

SSP585, Seasonal cycle of changes in precipitation
