In June the basic handling principles for data used in the report were published in the Data Science Journal by a team of authors from DDC, WG I and the World Data System (WDS):

Stockhause, M., Juckes, M., Chen, R., Moufouma Okia, W., Pirani, A., Waterfield, T., Xing, X. and Edmunds, R., 2019. Data Distribution Centre Support for the IPCC Sixth Assessment. Data Science Journal, 18(1), p.20. DOI: http://doi.org/10.5334/dsj-2019-020

In addition, the DDC managers, among them Martina Stockhause of the DKRZ, cojointly with colleagues of WG I organized a workshop on data and software development at the DLR site (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen on 6th and 7th June. The workshop was carried out as a "train-the-trainer" activity, i.e. the 11 international participants should act as multipliers and communicate the standards for the documentation of digital data to the authors. Follow-up activities include webinars and other web-based support activities, as well as special breakout groups at the authors' meetings.

Further information on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
On behalf of the IPCC, scientists regularly compile state-of-the-art climate research in assessment reports and use state-of-the-art publications to assess the latest state of knowledge on climate change. Within the IPCC, scientific coordination is carried out by three working groups (WGs), each supported by their Technical Support Units (TSUs). Support for data management is provided by the IPCC Data Distribution Centre (DDC), which is overseen by the Task Group on Data Support for Climate Change Assessments (TG-Data, formerly TGICA). The DDC is a collaboration between the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA), United Kingdom, the World Data Center for Climate (WDCC) hosted at DKRZ, Germany; and the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) at Columbia University, USA.
