In cooperation with the Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology female climate scientist tell about their everyday working life and answer questions of how and why the climate on earth is changing. As in previous years, the fifteen girls get guided tours to the computing hall and data archives at DKRZ and to the wind channel. Further information: here (only in German).
A cooperation between KlimaCampus, the office for equality between women and men at the university of Hamburg and the initiative “ArbeiterKind” also invites thirty girls to their Girls’Day program. Scientists at KlimaCampus explain the significance of climate change and their impact for mankind. DKRZ contribute to the program with a talk on the climate system, climate models, the supercomputer and climate data archive at DKRZ. An interactive 3D-visualization show of climate simulations and a guided tour through the computing center will round off the program.
The Girls'Day is initiated and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and by the Federal Ministry for Families, Senior Citizens, Women and Youths. It is an excellent opportunity for girls to find out about fields of work more typically associated with men.
