The main focus was on the noticable consequences of climate change in Germany: rising heat waves, persistent droughts, and increasingly frequent heavy rainfall events. In talks, panel discussions, and workshops, participants discussed how scientific findings can be translated into concrete adaptation measures. Among the speakers were CLICCS researchers Prof. Anita Engels, Prof. Jana Sillmann, and Prof. Grischa Perino.

The program was accompanied by an exhibition. The German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ) presented the latest climate model visualizations on its climate globe and touch table. Not only congress participants but also many pupil from the educational program Wetter.Wasser.Waterkant, which took parallel place, took the opportunity to ask questions and received answers from the DKRZ outreach team.

The congress was streamed live online, and recordings remain available on YouTube via the EWK website.

During the final session of the congress, the German Physical Society and the German Meteorological Society issued an urgent appeal: without decisive measures, global warming of up to three degrees could occur already by 2050. This potential risk was already highlighted in the latest assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
