Atos BullSequana

The new, fourth High Performance Computing System for Earth System Research (HLRE-4) is based on Atos BullSequana XH2000 technology, uses NVIDIA Mellanox InfiniBand HDR 200G Technology for data transmission and DDN components for data storage. The system will be delivered and installed in two phases.

Acceptance and benchmarking of the first phase is scheduled for October 2021, so that the computer will be available to DKRZ's users in November 2021. The second, final phase will be installed in February 2022.

The overall system will consist of a total of approximately 2,900 computing nodes with AMD EPYC Milan x86 processors (some with NVIDIA A100 GPUs), 800 terabytes of main memory and a 130 petabyte storage system. When completed, Levante will deliver a peak performance of more than 16 petaFLOPS, roughly quintupling the previous computing power at DKRZ.
