chatGRT (Chat-Based Geoscientific Research Transformer) is a pioneering AI research assistant developed jointly by the Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum (DKRZ) and GFZ Potsdam, funded by the VolkswagenStiftung, to revolutionize geoscientific workflows. By linking DKRZ’s vast high-performance computing resources and 70PB climate data archive with advanced AI methods, chatGRT translates natural-language research questions into executable, traceable scripts, enabling scientists to analyze Earth system data without technical overhead. This foundation model will accelerate climate and geoscience research, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and establish a new standard for reproducible, scalable, and accessible scientific discovery.
