TerraDT is a Horizon Europe-funded project (Grant Agreement no. 101187992) focused on developing a high-resolution Digital Twin of Earth's cryosphere (frozen regions), land surface, and aerosols. The project addresses key challenges in climate modelling by improving the representation of these critical Earth system components. As part of the Destination Earth (DestinE) initiative, TerraDT integrates modular, interoperable components to enhance climate simulations at a global scale. These advancements aim to improve the accuracy and reliability of climate impact assessments, supporting informed decision-making for climate adaptation and mitigation.
DKRZ is taking the lead in the work on interfaces between the different Earth system components and is working on the optimal design of models on HPC systems.
