The CLAIMA (Climate Artificial Intelligence Managed Access) project aims to transform and democratize access to AI resources for climate research at the European level as part of the European strategy for artificial intelligence. A key focus is on providing “foundational models” for climate modeling, which enable more efficient analysis and prediction of climate phenomena. The DKRZ is responsible for providing and curating large-scale, AI-ready climate datasets and integrating them into the European cloud infrastructure. Through its close collaboration with the World Data Centre for Climate (WDCC), the DKRZ also ensures the long-term availability of the AI artifacts developed in the project.
