The hpc4climate Summer School will take place in Lauenburg from July 28 to August 7. Participants will only have to cover their travel expenses; all other costs related to the event will be covered.
The Summer School aims to familiarize participants with the motivating field of work at the interface between Earth system research and various fields of computer science and mathematics. Through hands-on exercises directly addressing problems in climate modeling, the appeal of applying mathematics and computer science in the field of Earth system science will be demonstrated.
The team of outstanding keynote speakers and instructors, including 5 DKRZ employees, will guide participants in exploring the fundamentals of climate science and the application of high-performance computing and software engineering, data science and heterogeneous computing in climate modeling. Through hands-on exercises, students will gain first-hand experience working with the ICON climate model.
