The staff of the German Climate Computing Center congratulates Prof. Klaus Hasselmann! He led the center, which was founded in 1987, until his retirement in 1999 and, with the DKRZ, built up a national research infrastructure in addition to his own research, from which German climate research continues to benefit today. The development of coupled climate models driven by Hasselmann in combination with a powerful supercomputer tailored to climate modeling formed the basis for numerous international scientific successes and the good reputation of Hamburg climate research.
