The group thrives on the exceptional dedication of individuals and is supported by the management and administration department, as well as actively accompanied by many colleagues.
The initiative aims to use resources more responsibly, strengthen environmental awareness at DKRZ, and contribute to a more environmentally friendly society.
Measures implemented so far include the introduction of sustainable snack boxes and reusable lunch boxes, the development of a DKRZ guideline for business trips, and a checklist for sustainable events. In addition, a survey among employees was conducted to identify relevant topics and areas for action.
A current focus lies on promoting greening measures both around and inside DKRZ. This project is being carried out in cooperation with the Loki Schmidt Foundation and NABU.
The working group is also addressing the introduction of standardized waste separation and improved recycling processes.
The initiative demonstrates how collective commitment, even on a small scale, can make an important contribution to greater sustainability.
