Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe

The OpenAIRE project (no. RI-246686) is supported by the European Commission's 7th Framework Programme Capacities (Research Infrastructures) as a 3 year CPCSA, i.e. a  Combination of Collaborative projects and Coordination and Support Actions (Dec 2009 through Nov 2012).

Coordinator: Michael Hatzopoulos (University of Athens)
Scientific coordinator: Norbert Lossau (Goettingen University)
Technical coordinator: Donatella Castelli (CNR-ISTI)

WDCC participates in Work Package WP7:
Subject-specific requirements and data challenges

Partners in this Work Package perform research on crucial challenges and prepare future avenues of development of Open Access based e-Infrastructures. This implies studies on subject-specific requirements with the involvement of highly-profiled subject specialists as well as feasibility studies connecting subject-specific primary and secondary research data services to a generic Open Access based e-Infrastructure such as OpenAIRE. Moreover, this work addresses research on another type of data service, namely the administrative data (e.g. funder, project or person information) held in Current Research Information Systems.

Lead partner of this WP is CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Italy) and partners are

  • NKU - National And Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece) (Information and Communication Technologies)
  • SURF Stichting SURF (Netherlands) (Social Sciences and the Humanities)
  • DANS - Data Archiving and Networked Services
  • UNIBI Universitaet Bielefeld (Germany) (Cognitive systems/robotics)
  • DTU Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (Denmark)
  • EMBL-EBI European Molecular Biology Laboratory – European Bioinformatics Institute (UK) (Life Sciences)
  • WDCC Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum GmbH (Germany) (Climate Science)
  • CGIAR International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (Ipgri) (Italy)
