25th anniversary of DKRZ

Jan 21, 2013

The German Climate Computing Center was founded on the 11th of November, 1987, and started operations as a dedicated high performance computing center on the 1st of January, 1988. Throughout the last 25 years, DKRZ's high performance computing systems, archiving capacities and its services proved as an indispensable base for the German climate research community and hence contributed to its excellent reputation worldwide.

On the 25th of February, 2013, DKRZ celebrated its 25th anniversary with an official symposium (in German) – looking back on the success story of DKRZ and giving a vision of the future of climate computing. On the 26th of February, 2013 followed a workshop, during which some of the main DKRZ users present an overview on their current research.
