The German Climate Computing Centre (DKRZ) is the central simulation and data processing facility for the German climate and Earth System modelling community and is one of the leading facilities in this area. DKRZ not only operates supercomputers in the highest performance class and one of the largest data and archive systems worldwide, we also participate in many national and international projects aiming to improve the software and infrastructure for climate modelling.

Currently, we are offering a position as

IT-Systemadministrator (m/f/d) Software-defined Storage

Your tasks 

  • Conception, setup and system administration of very large software-defined storage systems
  • Ensuring the operation and further development of the systems
  • Troubleshooting and optimization (2nd level support)

Your profile 

  • Successful IT studies or equivalent knowledge
  • Strong experience in the areas of Linux, software-defined storage (especially Ceph) and hardware support
  • Hands-on experience with large IT systems in a scientific environment
  • Fluent in common scripting languages (Shell, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of all relevant interfaces (RestfulAPI, S3 etc.)
  • Good language skills in German and English
  • Strong communication skills
  • High motivation and strong commitment
  • Personal initiative and continuous willingness to learn
  • Service orientation and reliability
