Assistance after temporary server shutdown in the U.S.A.

After the shutdown of data servers at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California , the central services of the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) were temporarily switched to European servers. This ensured that scientists from all over the world can still access data, such as the IPCC reports, or the infrastructure of the European Network for Earth System Modeling (ENES).

DKRZ took over this provision of safety information for globally distributed data nodes of ESGF data federation. The BADC in England provided the central user administration and IPSL in France contributed to adapting the data access functionality. In addition, the SMHI in Sweden was involved. This shows an example of a very successful international cooperation.
