Visualizations of simulation results

Atmospheric Chemistry

Biomass burning (I): Photo chemical formation of ozone as a consequence of the Sydney fire (12/2001 - 1/2002), simulated with the MOZART-2 chemical transport model. The visualization shows the CO anomaly coloured by ozone anomaly. (Data: J. Hoelzemann, Martin Schultz, MPI for Meteorology): (AVI, 4 MB)

Biomass burnung (2): Simulation of a biomass burning plume with ATHAM. The image shows an isosurface of the aerosol concentration coloured by ozone. Photo chemical processes lead to the formation of ozone (high values: red). (Data: J. Trentmann, MPI for Chemistry) (JPG, 65 kB)

Long range transport of Lindane (yellowish transparent isosurfaces) and DDT (green isosurfaces) simulated using ECHAM5_HAM coupled with a multicompartment model for the persistent organic pollutants (Lammel et. al. 2001). Lindane and DDT data are based on the agricultural usage in 1980 and 1990, respectively. In the case of DDT, applications of minor amounts were neglected, such that emission is simulated only for India. (Data: V. S. Semeena, MPI for Meteorology) (Mpeg1, 7 MB)
