Visualization Server

Additionally to our supercomputers "blizzard" and "tornado", the DKRZ also provides a visualization cluster called "halo". The system is designed for an interactive 3D visualization and analysis of large model data.

In the following, you find information about:

  • The visualization cluster "halo" itself
  • How to get an account for "halo" to work with the system
  • How to perform a reservation for a VIZ node and how to log on to the system
  • How the remote 3D Rendering system works and what requirements are needed
  • Which filesystems are available and where to store your data, as well as
  • What software is installed on "halo" for post-processing and 3D visualization.

Vis Cluster "halo":
Technical description of halo's hardware and network systems.

Account:
How to get an account for Halo?

Reservation System:
Using a reservation system, one can reserve a VIZ node for a specific time.

Remote3D Rendering:
Using a TurboVNC/VirtualGL based remote rendering technique, one can log on and use the visualization cluster from virtually anywhere.

Filesystems:
The filesystems that are available and the quota on these.

Software:
The available software for pre- and post processing, as well as vor visualization and image/video editing.
