IBM Power6 "blizzard"

The supercomputer "blizzard" is the workhorse for the numerical experiments of the German climate researchers.

The architecture of the system is designed for optimal perfomance and efficiency for complex simulations with climate models. The IBM Power6 was selected on the basis of a perfomance benchmark with different climate models on different supercomputers.
